Wear Helmet – Even those who protect you, protect their heads

This is one of the interesting commercial ads which I came across very recently. This has been commissioned by IHIF (Indian Head Injury Foundation) and created by Ogilvy and Mather aimed at Indians.

Getting into the details, Hindu Gods have their own distinctive vehicles. The elephant-headed Lord Ganesha’s vehicle is a mouse, Ma Durga’s is a lion and the venerable Vishnu rides an eagle. There are mythological reasons why these animals are being used in that way. In this video, gods get on to the vehicles (Eagle, Rat & Lion) and whey are about to start, they hold back and wear their crowns depicting as helmets.

Few Hindus might go mad with this ad, as it is a bit disrespectful towards their gods. But I would say we should take it on the lighter side and appreciate the creative thought behind it; understand what they are trying to say to drivers to protect themselves.

I especially liked the caption, which comes at the end of the video, saying:

EVEN THOSE WHO PROTECT YOU, PROTECT THEIR HEADS.
PROTECT YOURS.

I felt this caption gives a strong feeling that they have to wear the helmets.
