Apple Watch Series 2: Unboxing

Following Macbook Pro, 30” Cinema Display, MacBook Air, iPad mini a new addition to my Apple family is Apple Watch Series2 received on 30th March 2017.

I brought this watch through my Vitality Medical Insurance membership. Paid £99 up front and the monthly EMI will be based on the points I receive through my fitness activities. Only selected watch options available to choose from on Vitality, I went with the 42mm Sport – Aluminium with white strap, which was my personal choice and luckily it is one of the options available on Vitality portal too.

Apple has created different case options (Stainless steel, Graphite and Rose Gold) to give a professional and premium look for the watch, but somehow I always feel Apple Watch is a sport watch because of its main objective – fitness, hence the Sports Aluminium frame was always my choice because it looks bit trendy and I feel the aluminium frame is a kind of classic type in Apple watches.

There are many blog posts available on the internet talking about Series2  Vs Series1 functionalities and on their own, but in this post, I will be talking only about its packaging which I was really impressed about, the detail of the interest they have taken to pack this watch is really commendable.

All of the watches (high street brand watches), which I brought so far, came in a usual watch box shape (Square), but this watch came in a rectangular shape that is the first thing which caught my attention.

Instructions Booklet

To keep it with the flow of the packaging the instructions booklet has been designed in a rectangular shape and if you notice, the corners of this instructions leaflet were in rounded corners representing the shape of Apple Watch.

Plastic wrap

Spare strap

There is a spare strap of size S/M supplied in the box if M/L is big for you. It is a well thought made by Apple and this shows how much they were considerate about their users. Having said that, I also wondered why can’t they manage the same way as the other watches with straps do with a single strap size? As I used many strap watches in the past, I felt the sizing of these straps were bit odd. I’m thinking of buying more straps in different colours, to start with I’ ll be buying a Yellow one.

One of the usability things to notice here is these small flips helps to lift the card box to access the charger and the adapter below it.
